ALLENDALE MEMORIAL DAY PARADE
All troops are invited!

The Memorial Day Parade steps off at 9:30am from Talman Place. Memorial Day is May 29th, 2023.

All Girl Scouts are encouraged to march, wearing their vest, sash or tunic. Girls may march with their troop, carrying their troop flags, with the marching band, or with an ARC sports team. Show your Girl Scout pride with your vest, sash or tunic!

ATTENTION: Kindergarten Daisies lead the parade and carry a Girl Scout banner. For the banner, please contact Ali Zambrotta @abzambrotta@yahoo.com

Marchers meet at 9am on Talman Place, off Myrtle Avenue. Parents can walk alongside their daughter's troop, or they can watch from the sidewalk. The parade leads to Memorial Park, to the annual ceremony honoring Allendale veterans' service to our country. Flowers are placed by each organization on the commemorative plaque. Only girls wearing their Girl Scout uniform will be selected for that honor. The winning essays from the 7th grade on the topic What Veterans' Day Means To Me are read aloud by the students. In conclusion, a bell is rung for each Allendale resident killed in war as their names are read.

The ceremony can be hot - remember to bring sunscreen and water!

Hard candies to toss to parade watchers are optional.
