Maple Syrup production for Cadettes and Seniors
Each spring a group of Allendale Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts collects maple sap and makes maple syrup.
Each family collects sap from a maple tree in their yard, then the group gathers to boil it into syrup (yum) that we bottle and share.
Participating girls are encouraged to take an active part in collecting and boiling the sap. All Girl Scouts will have the opportunity to taste the syrup during a community event later in the year.
MAPLE SUGARING TIME LINE:
OCTOBER
October is the time to select your maple tree - while it still has leaves!
FEBRUARY
February is when we tap the trees, then collect and boil the sap.
MARCH
In March we gather to combine the reduced sap and create our own unique blend: Allendale Maple Syrup.
Troops and individual families welcome! Leaders, please share this invitation with your girls and their families!
